Browser Bookmarklets for Popular URL Shortners

Some time back I wrote a bookmarklet for u.nu. Some found it quite useful and told me about it via comments and on twitter. Here are some more shortners.

Big and Small

7 URL Bookmarklets

Just drag and drop any of these to your browser tool bar, and when you need to shorten the url of any page, just click it.

Click any of above to see what happen, the resulting window will come up with a short url for the long url of the current page. Have fun!

(The bookmarklets might not render properly in emails or feed readers, get it from the page online)

I use bit.ly sidebar. It’s the only bookmarklet ever needed and shows lot of info about shortened link right on the page.

Personally, I prefer su.pr but it reminds me that I am using Opera(by working only 5 times out of 10!)

U.nu was my a favorite for a long time, till I found Su.pr. Su.pr bring a lot more traffic than any, so I use it now.

Pretty handy scripts buddy.. I have this habit of directly pasting long URLs to my twitter clients. Sometimes, it doesn’t work ;) though some clients have integrated shortening services. Let me use one of these…

Even the web interface automatically shortens using bit.ly (the last time I checked), but many links are over 140 chara, so they just wont fit in. Hope these worked!

bit.ly is my favorite URL shortner because it gives traffic reports.
Any one have more feature than bit.ly. suggest me.
